An Exploration of the Comprehensive Nature of the Qur'an Emphasizing the Qur'anic Exegetical Method

The issue of the comprehensiveness of the Qur'an and the determination of its scope is an important topic in Qur'anic sciences and a point of contention among scholars. Despite the acceptance of the principle of comprehensiveness, a fundamental question arises: to what extent does the Qur'an engage with various aspects of human life—both individual and social, worldly and otherworldly—and how can the limits of this comprehensiveness be elucidated? This study, employing a descriptive-analytical method and utilizing an intra-Qur'anic approach with a focus on the Qur'an itself, Seeks to elucidate and analyze the main perspectives regarding the scope of the Qur'an's comprehensiveness. The findings indicate the existence of three general views on this matter: maximalist interpretations, minimalist readings, and moderate approaches.according to the maximalist perspective, the Qur'an has commented directly or indirectly on all issues relevant to the attainment of human individual and social well-being. The minimalist viewpoint confines the Qur'anic scope to the relationship between humans and God and the afterlife, which presents several issues. The moderate view holds that the Qur'an discusses certain matters, such as the pillars of religion, in a maximalist manner, while addressing other issues minimally. The intra-Qur'anic approach supports this perspective.
