Abstract
Dhul-Qarnain is one of the characters introduced by the Holy Quran. Considering that the questioning of Dhul-Qarnain, which was done in verse 83 of Surah al-Kahf to make the Messenger of God difficult and to test his prophethood on the part of the Jews, shows the influence of this character in a certain period of time. For this reason, some commentators have thought to know who this character is. Therefore, people have been introduced in matching this person and considering that the word Dhul-Qarnain is an adjective and not a noun. Meanwhile, Koresh is also among these people. Each of the supporters and opponents of this comparison resorted to evidence to prove their claim. In this article, the arguments of the supporters of Koresh's comparison with Dhul-Qarnain have been discussed and criticized in some cases. The question that is studied in this article is whether this comparison brings us to reality and Koresh is the same Dhul-Qarnain introduced in the Qur'an? This article has been investigated using library and software resources with descriptive analytical method, and according to this article, the proposed adaptation is not acceptable.
